Instructions for fitting a speedometer drive to a Bentley chassis, detailing part replacements and gear ratios.

BENTLEY CHASSIS.

SPEEDOMETER DRIVE. SECTION 6035.

Please receive herewith two blue prints of each of the following :-

GB.2644. Speedo Driving Gear. 1 off per set.
GB.2645. " Driven ". 1 " " "
GB.2646. Bearing. Speedo Drive. 1 " " "

The above parts, which are in accordance with memo' Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/WST.1/JH.23.2.37, have a Gear Ratio of 20/7 instead of 20/9 as on the standard Production Chassis, and are required to enable the A.C. Speedometer to be fitted, which turns 1001 revs per mile.

With the gears provided, the Speedometer Cable turns at 1022 revs per mile which is the nearest obtainable to 1001 revs per mile.

The following part is also required for use with the above :-

G.82372. Washer. Driven Gear. 1 off per set.

The pieces at present used are replaced by the above as follows :-

G.55888. replaced by - GB.2644.
G.54787. " " - GB.2645.
G.77497. " " - GB.2646.
Additional. - G.82372. [Handwritten: 6 B IV]

A new Pattern is required for GB.2646.

This completes the instructions for the above.
