X.430 - MAGNETOS - GENERAL X.3724 X.3515 X.4210 Independently of this note we are sending reports of experimental bench tests of three magnetos :- 1. Dixie Aero 648. 2. B.T.H. F.M.6. 3. Conner C.M.1. Work on these was started some weeks ago and it was considered worth while to complete the tests. A magneto of the first kind is being sent to Mr. Royce for his examination. The general impression of this magneto is favourable. A magneto of the second kind has already been taken to Mr. Royce loosely assembled. It will be seen that the results of this magneto are somewhat disappointing. The B.T.H. representative hoped that we should not pay too much attention to the finish of this magneto as it was one of the first and a hand produced job. We had only one sample of the Conner magneto. This will now be placed on a car or sent to Mr. Royce for his observation as required. The general impression of the machine is fairly favourable. The open circuit volt-speed and short ampere speed curves of these three magnetos will follow. We have also prepared a table of lowest sparking speeds for all the magnetos we have bench tested, on equal Contd. | ||
