X9440 It appears to be desirable to improve the compensation on the front brakes as much as possible. We think that the bearing for the cross shafts on the front axle would be improved if arranged as shewn on N.scheme 1731. herewith. The difference consists in removing the double friction from the long flexible shaft, and adding it to the short stiff shaft. On the same drawing we shew an alter-native in which an entirely independent bearing is provided for each shaft which might prove to be still better if it were found practical to line up all 4 bearings in this way.
