Halliwell D6/DL. 17th June 1930. A.V.Nutt, Esq., S. James's Chambers, Derby. Dear Mr.Nutt, Re. the late Mr.Halliwell (1) With reference to the papers which I handed to you this morning, we are taught from day to day always to "make certain" and following this advice I am writing to ask you that you will be good enough to see that the necessary notice of Mr.Halliwell's death is given to the people whom we should advise where there is a time limit concerned - as, for instance, the Life Policy, and the like. (2) The list of Savings Certificates which I brought back with me has reference to the certificates which belonged to Mrs.Halliwell before she was married and they are clearly taken out in her maiden name. (3) With regard to the question of Income Tax; I enclose you herewith copy of a statement dated May 28th which is self-explanatory and refers to the bonus on profits in item No.1. The remainder of the document does not refer to Mr.Halliwell, but it may be information for yourself. You will see there is attached copy of letter from the Inspector of Taxes to whom I sent a copy at the same time I issued it to the persons concerned. You need not return this. (4) For your information also, I append herewith a statement showing the wages paid to the deceased for the year ended April 5th 1930. This is the amount on which the assessment for 1930/31 will be based, if, indeed Mr.Halliwell had not been already dealt with as a "workman" in which case I believe the Income Tax is dealt with in a different manner. No doubt you will | ||
