Hanbury - Head Complaints} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EY. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} S E C R E T X8940 X8770 RAC: 'V' SERIES - TESTS IN FRANCE. 93-NK car will be leaving Derby tomorrow on its way to France. This car has the following modified pieces compared with 98-NK car which has just returned from France. 1. New pistons. These are sand-cast pistons with the stiffer diagonal web on the split side, 5 narrow rings with grooves below each ring. 2. Gudgeon pins. The pistons are heated up before the gudgeon pins are fitted. This enables the pin to be .0015" to .002" oversize. 3. Engine bearer arm. This is made of N.S., heat treated, no brazing. 4. Latest undershields - engine and gearbox. 5. Radiator with modified water inlet. 6. Radiator shutters. The shutters have been shortened so as to give more clearance at the bottom and so that they will not be jammed with mud and dirt. The bottom bearing for the shutters has been inverted to avoid water and mud draining into them. The controls on the radiator shutters have been modified. 7. Steering. The levers inside the box are now bolted together. The bracket holding the steering to the frame is solid without clamping bolts. 8. Exhaust choke valve. This has been modified to prevent the spindle distorting to overcome rattles. contd :- | ||
