SEATING POSITIONS ON 'EAC' 'V' SERIES.
BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and myself visited WW. on Tuesday last and discussed, amongst other things, the seating position of 'V' series cars. It is noticeable on the experimental cars that when the seating position is correct to our standard dimensions, that the drivers' view is, to a certain extent, obstructed by the steering wheel. This is due chiefly to the larger diameter wheel and also owing to the angle of the wheel being altered.
The EAC. car you tried (93-NK) the drivers' seat was 2" higher than the correct dimension. It was a standard body which had been supplied to us by Sales.
When CW B. and H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} were at the Works yesterday, we got them to try these cars. They were of the opinion that the seating positions and the drivers vision were reasonably good.
There is very little chance of modification to improve the drivers vision unless we go back to the small diameter steering wheel or give less clearance under the steering wheel.
We recommend that Sales send some of the Coach-building Committee to Derby to approve of the 'V' seires seating psitions. We shall have two cars ready any day after Tuesday next week which will be arranged with the
