Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}2/AD.3.5.32. TORQUE REACTION DAMPERS. Our last 10,000 mile car, and also the one now running in France emphasises the fact that it is necessary to soak the 40/50 torque reaction damper fabrics in oil when they are fitted up. If this is not done after a short mileage there is a tendency for these dampers to creak and knock. This knock can be confused with the front shock absorber knock, and therefore the point should be closely watched. We recommend that in future all fabric should be soaked in oil and that as opportunity occurs the fabrics on diamond mounted cars that have already left the Works should be treated in the same manner.
