ORIGINAL P/t. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to Ser. Nom. RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/W20.S.32. Y40? V85? PEREGRINE & BELSPORT REAR AXLE. We send herewith D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} sch. 7514. shewing the 6.5" hypoid gear, ratio 9/46. for Peregrine, and 10/41 for Belsport. It will be seen that the majority of the pieces are unaltered from the existing 6" Peregrine axle. In order to get in the Belsport gear with the increased pinion diameter we suggest it may be desirable to extend the distance from the transmission centreline to the flange on the differential .1", and expect that this can be done by modifying the side. In other respects the differential is unaltered. Also in order to provide for the possibility of a still higher gear we suggest that though the pinion thrust bearing housing is the same diameter as now, provision should be made for increasing this diameter in case it is necessary. We should like to say that this drawing has been delayed owing to our not having the drawings of the Peregrine gear. We asked for these during the holidays, and have had several enquiries since, but we received them only on Thursday last. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
