GRY{Shadwell Grylls} To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/HP.24.5.34. X530A c.c. Mr. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 20/25 HP. Clutch. With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/KW.23.5.34, the flywheel flutter which was experienced with this clutch, we suggest that the modification which overcame this, shewn on E.14076. should be incorporated in the new details now being prepared. These details cover modifications asked for by Experimental Department as a result of experience with the first clutch. As discussed with Mr D'Aeth, the set screw method of holding on the back plate stops can still be utilised with the thin flywheel web, either by screwing into the thin material which appears to us to be adequate, or by leaving a narrow band of material on the centre line of the set screws slightly thicker, thus:- [Hand drawn sketch of a clutch component] We have left our print of E.14076 with Mr D'Aeth.
