We have heard from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} that 7-Goshawk-11 is not going to be returned to him but that CJ. is starting the Amateur Test with it. We see no reason why 7-Goshawk-11 should not be used for the Amateur Test, but there are a considerable number of points on that car which are a different to what the standard production will be like
We are preparing 5-Goshawk-11 which was the first Goshawk car to complete 10,000 miles, making that car into a model of the first production cars. When it is finished, the car should be run another 10,000 miles. This is very necessary because a lot of the parts will be entirely new and also we wish to know whether they have overcome the previous faults. The car should be tested in mountainous districts so that we can see whether an improvement has been affected as regards preventing the water boiling. Whether this car is run by Amateurs or by the works, we have no preference as long as the car is kept running.
