BUMP TEST - GOSHAWK 11. X.4260
X.4268

We have been bumping the front of the "Goshawk" with a frame fitted with the modified dumb irons. The frame itself broke at the dumb iron fixing after 45 hours running. The fracture occurred through the bolt holes. We should say that with the addition of the thicker frame which it has been agreed to use, this part could be considered safe. The interesting point on this test was that in order to keep the bump test running, we repaired the frame by means of a "U" section plate. The frame only ran for another further 2 hours when it broke at the bolt holes for the front cross member, which appears as though as soon as we got rid of the flexibility on the front horn, the frame failed quickly.
