EAC. 7. REAR SPRINGS.

We send herewith N. sch. 2162. giving particulars of the 66" rear springs for the new EAC. 7. frame.

It will be seen that the top plate is going to be rather thin compared with previous 40/50 top plates. We suggest that it may be desirable to use 3 or even 4 clips per side to support this plate in compression. We think it better to do this than to upset the balance of the spring by introducing an abnormally thick top plate with corresponding nip in the lower plates.

We have shewn a conventional spring and not one with rebound leaves partly because we believe R.{Sir Henry Royce} is not greatly in favour of the latter, and partly because we cannot ourselves make out that the rebound leaves recently tested on the front springs are any different from the leaves in the normal position. We are writing to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for further information on this point.

Would you kindly send us an extra print of N.sch. 2162. for despatch to R.{Sir Henry Royce}
