From Exp. Dept. Copies for Mr Johnson Mr Royce Mr Spinney Mr Hadin AT/Nile/11231B March 12th 1913. Report on Ex. 168 Steering Pivot Tests. On one of our experimental cars we had a man for a total of 24 hours continually pulling the steering round each way until it bumped against the stops. He would average about 3 bumps a minute which meant that each pivot had 2160 bumps. The pivots did not move. If we tried to get a big blow on them the steering stops gave way and allowed the tyre to go against the frame. I consider we can safely say that this is not the cause of pivots breaking. | ||
