RE. CONTROL FORKS AND PINS ETC.

In reply to your BY2/H7.6.26., with which you sent two samples of control forks fitted with pins that had no shoulders and were lapped to an accurate dia. would you please note Mr. Royce's remarks as follows :-

"We agree with what you have done but will you go a little further and try case-hardening both fork and lever. We should not anticipate any trouble from distortion, and we think all the surfaces should be hard, otherwise the soft surfaces will pick up the grit and lap away the hard ones".
