BENTLEY

1. Second Half of "M" Series

The Works confirm that they were only machining 100 chassis of the "M" series, and they will let us know later when instructions are needed for the second half if these are to be produced. It was not possible to decide this matter yesterday, and S. are therefore taking the necessary steps to hold up any bodies that might have been instructed for the chassis which would form the second half of this series.

2. Thin Engine Oils

The Works will instruct K.{Mr Kilner} on the question of putting thin engine oil in certain selected customers' cars which are in for excessive cylinder wear, and will arrange for the customers to be asked to continue using thin oil in order to get information on the subject.

BENTLEY III

1. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} remarked that we had not heard very much about the model of this car that was now on test, and not much information was given by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} in response to this remark. No date is yet given as to when S. officials can have the opportunity of trying it.

2. Disc Wheels

It was pointed out that to fit the present standard discs to wire wheels on a Bentley increases the retail price of the car by £17. for plain black discs and the cost to the Company by £12, or for black with chromium mouldings £19.17.6. retail and cost to the Company £13.17.3., so that this is not an economical way of providing an alternative to steel wheels. It was left to Gry{Shadwell Grylls} to investigate the cost of supplying as standard wire wheels covered with discs.
