TO Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} - 4 - I would risk the statement right now that if R.{Sir Henry Royce} R.{Sir Henry Royce} have valve spring trouble it is much less due to material than to manufacturing practice. Particularly due to lack of study of the possibilities in shot-blasting and presettling. Olley Maurice Olley P.S. - Nov. 26, 1939. Grylls' letter of November 13th just rolled in. Cannot answer yet on fancy transmissions, except he should see the fluid-flywheel Oldsmobile. Can say definitely that the column gearshift is now standard in the U.S. and any return to the joystick is unthinkable. He should not judge this by the Buick shift which is the worst of the lot, but by Chrysler, Pontiac and Cadillac. Oy. | ||
