R.R. 236a (50 T. S.H. 986. 10-5-21) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 3008. CJ ref Rgs use of Rolls-Royce X.1775 cars for any purpose whatever To Rgs from CJ. C. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to BP c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Referring to your memorandum Rgl/W18.8.21, economy dictates that, with certain exceptions, which are more or less contractual, it should be laid down that the cost of an official's transport from his home to the Works and vice versa should be borne by the official and not by the Company. The cost of transport of an official from the Works to the station or to some other spot at which it is necessary for him to arrive in the Company's time on the Company's business should be borne by the Company, and that a car may be used, if by so doing it will be an economy to the Company. So far as you are concerned, however, we think it extremely desirable that although you are employed principally on aero work, you should use as far as possible experimental cars for any journeys whatever, because we feel it would be to the interest of the Company that we should have the benefit of your criticisms and suggestions. Furthermore, we think it would be to the interest of the Company that you should use for any purpose whatever cars which are undergoing tests, so that we may have the benefit of your criticisms and suggestions and thus be satisfied that the chassis which we are manufacturing are up to our standard. Will you, therefore, kindly inform Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}Ms. and BP. of occasions on which you would like to have the use of a car, so that if they can do so, either experimental or test cars should be lent to you for the purpose of your journeys.
