E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} RG.{Mr Rowledge} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HL. c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Fl. X7040 R7/M7.4.28. X.5040 X.8040 X.7040 X.3996 ALL ENGINES - AERO & CAR - PISTON PINS. I understand that we are making no case-hardened pins but that they are all hardened and tempered to good stanton test, hard and tough, and of the same alloy steel that is used for valve springs. This is considered even better than road springs. I have pointed out to HL. that I should like to see more fatigue tests - Stanton, Upton Lewis and Izod. I give them I believe in order of merit.
