P. 2. FRONT APRON.
x4531.

Many thanks for your HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}2/T241130. and enclosures.

We saw the apron on 22-EX. today and R.{Sir Henry Royce} has agreed that he likes the suggestion 'B' on the print -i.e. the frame cover as fitted to the nearside of the car.

We are a little uncertain about the advisability and practicability of taking the frame covering piece down the outside of the frame, between the frame and the wing valance. This means that to get at the wiring connections in the horn it will be necessary to remove the front wings - a long and difficult job.

There appear to be two alternatives:

(1) To finish the frame cover at the frame's outer edge and use screws on the top flange of the frame (see N.sch.3138.)

(2) To do as above and not use screws into the top flange of the frame but merely to trust to the side bolts to hold the frame covering piece.

We would be glad if you could try to achieve either of these modifications, of which we prefer (2), and if itis satisfactory arranged with BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to make the necessary arrangement drawing and details of such an apron with a view to standardisation and production.
