Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} ORIGINAL Ck{Mr Clark}1/T13.3.20. X.295 - SMITH (T & M) TYPES A & 2D DYNAMOS. We received a visit on Wednesday last, from Messrs. Trier and Smith of Messrs. Smith & Sons Ltd., in connection with their dynamos. We were informed that they have dynamos similar to their type 2D in production at the moment and are supplying Messrs. Leyland, Messrs. Crossley and another firm with such dynamos. They would be willing to supply such dynamos to us incorporating any little detail alterations that we wish for to improve the machine, so long as the fundamental design was not affected. They consider that they would be able to supply us with dynamos easily at the rate of 40 a week that we should require them, within 6 weeks from the date when the necessary minor alterations had been decided. It was arranged with them that they would send us along two dynamos exactly representing their present production and that they would put in hand a machine immediately, differing from their standard in several small details which we mentioned during their visit.
