CHASSIS 9.B.V. JBD{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}

Why the remark about the Crookes on page 2. ?

After running this car for 194 miles during the week-end, the following are my impressions and comparisons with 8.B.V.

Performance does not seem to be as good as 8.B.V. There is no sign of detonation. Delco ignition fitted.

Petrol consumption. 13½ M.P.G.

Water temperature 90°.

There is a boom period about 2500 R.P.M. - 50 M.P.H. on direct drive, although signs of it at same engine R.P.M. on other gears it appears to be a transmission vibration as it varies in intensity with rear spring deflection.

Synchromesh satisfactory.

1st. gear noisy. I consider we shall have some criticism of this feature as it will be used when starting from rest, particularly in traffic. It is a marked contrast to the quietness of the 2nd. gear.

old geometry

Car wanders at speed and has to be continually steered to keep it on a straight course, may have been aggravated by very high wind. Not as good as 8.B.V.

No sign of steering wheel joggle complained of on 8.B.V.

Horn button rattles same as 8.B.V. This is a persistent and annoying feature and requires attention. It is not peculiar to B.V. but has been with us since the introduction of this type of button on P.III.
