XC4520. X6073 EFC. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. PN.{Mr Northey} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E4/M20.9.30. RE - TWO WAY FOOT SWITCH OF R.R. DESIGN FOR CENTRAL LAMP SCHEME. In reply to your memo EFC3/ADL8.8.30. we have nothing in hand yet for this switch, purely owing to the pressure of more urgent work, but we hope to get on with it in the near future. At the same time we are interested to note that Sales are continually enquiring as to the progress of a foot switch, as we understood from EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, that this scheme did not appeal to customers. From personal experience we find thatthe foot switch is much to be preferred to a hand operated device, whatever system of headlamp dipping or switching is used, and as regards the central lamp itself we found that this did not give enough light, though this is a point that could be corrected.
