RE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. X3450 X14267

There have been complaints that the accelerator pedal cuts through the bottom runner of the body. It is very difficult to alter the position of this pedal in any way to make it effective and we believe that it will be found to be satisfactory as it is. We should like to refer you to LeC 1427 which shews a gash in the body runner cutting it about half through and still leaves a beam approximately 2 X 2 which we believe will be sufficiently strong. The actual dimensions of this gash are now less than shewn on LeC 1427 as the pedal has been brought in slightly, and they can be still further reduced by (1) putting radii in the corner (2) making it necessary to take down the accelerator pedal before removing the body. If this is done (and it is quite easy to provide for), it will be seen that the gash need only be wide enough to enclose the boss of the accelerator pedal, and at the same time is brought further back on to a wider part of the body runner.

If Mr. Spinney is not fully informed as to the foregoing, would you be so kind as to set out a sketch shewing the gash in the runner as it might be in these two cases; namely, so as to dismount the body without removing the accelerator pedal, and so as to remove the accelerator pedal before dismounting the body.
