BENTLEY 60. CRANKCASE REAR END OIL RETAINING GROOVE.

Please receive herewith :-

E.CD.887 Modified Rear Bearing Oil Collecting Groove
Bentley 60 and 80.

The oil retaining groove at the rear of
the crankcase rear bearing has been modified to make the
parallel sides of groove square with the axis of crankshaft
instead of being inclined forward.

On the first design of the oil return E.CD.
436 we were compelled to incline the groove forward to obtain
maximum capacity for groove in a limited space, but on a later
design E.CD.772 the crankshaft flange was moved rearwards by
.150 and owing to this we are now able to simplify the
machining of the groove as shewn on E.CD.887.

It should be noted that the crankshaft is
slightly altered to suit.

The alteration should be included in the
crankcases for the second engine and onwards, and will also
apply to the B.80 crankcase and crankshaft, the first B.60
crankcase and crankshaft will be made to the original dimensions.

Will you please instruct for the alterations to
be made as stated above.
