R.R. 296A (100 T'S. M. {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 150. 11-8-20) G. {Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2800 X4211 W/S. {Derby Works / Sales} To H. {Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 14/T7.12.20. X.4211 - RE WEAKNESS OF DYNAMO-BATTERY SYSTEM. X. 294 We have your H3/TB/4/12/20 with attached memorandum to BJ. and BJ's remark as follows :- "We must bring thexpoint home to R.R. designers that this is a weakness in our design. Please raise it at next Staff Conference". We wish to point out that this particular weakness is only too well known by Derby and that the want of improvement in this respect is not due to any want of attention to the matter, but to circumstances which have existed up to the present which have rendered it impossible to make a change. Some of these circumstances will be gathered from the attached notes, e.g. By2/P25.11.20 and EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 5/T25.10.20. However, every effort is being made to obtain a generator more suited to the R.R. car conditions. Any further information for Mrs. Sauber with regard to charging in garage than is contained in the recently published Electrical Appendix of the Instruction Book, we shall be pleased to supply if required.
