17.9.35. SPECIFICATION OF PRODUCTION INSPECTION, ADJUSTMENT, AND TEST, OF CUTOUT AND REGULATOR UNIT. Type:- SpectreCodename for Phantom III: Comprising R.R. cutout and C.A.V.-Bosch B2CJ1 regulator mounted on one base. -------------------- CUTOUT. (1) The cutout should first be examined with respect to the following points :- (a) The cutout lever for freedom of motion; there should be no tendency to 'stick'. (b) The contact surfaces for correct alignment. (c) The contact bow spring tip should only just touch the armature tip without appreciable pressure. (d) The contact surfaces for a definite rubbing action, between the points, after make and before break. (e) The air gap for correct length. With the points just in contact, the gap between the armature stop, and the magnet pole face, should not be less than .012". If it is, the fixed contact point should be raised the required amount. (2) The regulator connection to terminal A should be removed before testing the insulation of the cutout. It shall now be ascertained that the fixed contact support is insulated from the frame of the cutout by applying an alternating voltage of 200 through a low c.p. lamp between it and the armature. | ||
