[Handwritten tick] A.{Mr Adams} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Stamped] ORIGINAL [Handwritten] X4024 E2/W21.4.31. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} [Struck through] C. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} [Struck through] C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} VEE ENGINES. At the time the eight cyl. Vee engine was being investigated it was found that the spread of the cylinders was too wide for the bonnet with the engine pushed forward to accommodate the steering box, and that the engine demanded rather a peculiar induction pipe for good distribution. We are going over these problems again to find if the original conclusions were correct and in the case of the latter point making sure that the crankshaft arrangement was the same as used on the Cadillac - e.g. [Hand-drawn diagram of a cross with '1'' in the top-left quadrant, '2' in the top-right, and '3' in the bottom-left.] In the meantime we attach a table of information which we have gathered together with respect to 12 and 16 cyls. Vee engines. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} [Circular Stamp:] H RECEIVED 1931 APR | ||
