We took the oportunity of dismantling the clutch while the gear box seizure was being dealt with. The enclosed illustrations show the condition of the clutch plate fabric. The rear fabric was found to have cracked and become displaced, also the rivets have dug into the fabric allowing the fabric to move. The illustration clearly shows a line on the inner edge where the fabric has picked up & fused onto the flywheel in the form of carbon. The brass bonding at this point has become exposed. We also illustrate the flywheel & show where the fabric has fused onto the face. This in our opinion, may have been caused by the excessive set up on the sections, so raising high points on the fabric, which duly picked up & scored the rest of the surface. ------------ GWH{George W.
