To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 10,000 MILES TEST CAR IN FRANCE. Attached herewith is a daily report on the 10,000 miles test car. We have wired to Hancock to reduce the tyre pressures to 50 lbs. front and 55 lbs. rear. According to the Instruction Book, this car, being a closed car should run with 55 lbs. front and 65 lbs. rear. It is no use however our running a car with tyre pressures which cause definite discomfort and which will undoubtedly increase the wear and tear on the chassis. We propose running this car with lower tyre pressures and then alter the tyre pressures given in the Instruction Book. As regards the failure of the luggage grid. This has a load of 150 lbs. on it. The load was distributed over the grid. We are writing however asking for the broken grid to be sent back, also to make sure that the weights were fixed firmly. If one examines the grid it will be seen that there is a sudden change of section at the point where it has failed. We should like to know whether it is considered that the grid should be modified so that we could get one altered and send out to be fitted on the car? Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
