Comparative tests on two oil samples examining viscosity and separation of asphaltic bodies after heating.

Comparative tests have also been made by intermittently heating the oils to a temperature of 200°C. for 24 hours in order to ascertain the amount of alteration in the viscosity of the oil and the separation of asphaltic bodies insoluble in very light petroleum (Pentane). There was not much difference in the behaviour of the oils as to thickening, i.e. increase of viscosity compared with the original oil, but the amount of asphaltic bodies produced in sample "B" was considerably greater than from "A", the ratio being about 7:1. Heating test. Oil exposed at temperature of 200°C. for 24 hours.- A.{Mr Adams} B.
