X7000. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}14/T23.1.30 re Phantom II Crankcase. We have been experiencing trouble with the oil thrower and end plate of the above, allowing oil to escape. We consider from past experience that the clearance round the thrower should not at any point be less than.100. In one case we found the clearance was as low as .014, the drawing limits we think allow a minimumm of .013. This we feel is inadequate as the oil film will easily make up the space. Another point, we think that the three drain holes are inadequate, and that a slot would be preferable, but a larger number of bigger holes may be just as effective. | ||
