Condition report on the Wraith III Bumper Chassis front suspension unit after 49.5 hours of running.

Report on condition of front suspension unit fitted with cast steel main lever housings, after 49 1/2 hours' running. The main lever housings GW.1746/7 produced in cast steel are fractured near the bolt bosses (see photograph attached). Both main lever housings have been passed to the Laboratory for report. The near side rear upper triangle lever GW.795 is slightly cracked on the top side of the 3.000 radius; this has been handed to the Laboratory for report. All other upper triangle levers are in good condition and are free from cracks. The lower triangle levers are in satisfactory condition and are free from cracks. Main levers GW.737 are in good condition, no excessive clearance having developed between the splines of the lever and fulcrum pin. Main spring housings GW.740, produced in A/C, are satisfactory. The condition of all needle roller bearings is satisfactory. The following studs, produced in S/M, fitted to this chassis 2.3.38., are apparently satisfactory :- 4 KB.754. .250 dia. fitted to Rear Cover. 4 KB.760. .250 " " " " " 10 KB.763. .250 " " " " " 8 KB.850. .375 " " Frame Extension. 16 KB.432. .312 " " Main Spring Housing. Front Axle. Incorporating PD.97 needle rollers to pivot pin. The yoke pieces, axle pivots and pivot pins are all in good condition and free from cracks. continued. | ||
