B.R. 493A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-28). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} -2- EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF: *S3/L.G.10.9.24. can deal with. Although on the EAC.11; it is only proposed to go to the 23" matrix, our tests show that the 40/50 HP. engine requires definitely larger radiator than the E.A.C. We therefore recommend that we make tests with the 23.75" because it represents the utmost which could be done without any drastic changes. 3. Bonnets. The bonnet for this car has been made with spare side panels. One pair of panels are fitted with the shutters, the other pair are fitted with louvres. The shutters have been made larger than the present standard ones. The side of the bonnet is now 2" deeper than it was when the shutters were first designed. There is no reason why the shutters should not be made larger. The louvres are deeper than we have usually fitted. 4. Pistons. The engine on this car is fitted with pistons, having an improved gudgeon pin locking screw as shewn on Lec.1758. 5. Pivot Pin Bushes. Kelmet bushes in steel housings are fitted to the pivot pin bushes. These have run a few thousand miles in England and show good promise. Experience is that the cars which are run in London where the steering is used continuously and the load is never relieved on the bushes, the lubrication fails and the pivot pin tends to tighten. Kelmet is the best bearing metal we know of for running satisfactorily contd :- | ||
