Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} MNG. La.{L. A. Archer} From HRO/Smd.{J. Smedley} Brg. Think this is very necessary. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 6182. [Typed] Re. Failure of Ammeter on Chassis MRO-5. also 3-BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}-51 and 3-BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}-111. The failure of Ammeters has become increasingly serious and cars so effected are liable to become inoperative in awkward places. The representative of Messrs. Weston Ammeter Co., has already been acquainted on previous occasions with the causes of the trouble i.e. loose actuating coil connections and although steps have been taken to rectify by the Manufacturers, a percentage which are liable to cause inconvenience are still in Customers' hands. We strongly advocate that an internal inspection of 1 in 20 should take place in our own electrical Inspection Department and we propose to commence this inspection immediately. The cost of such a test and inspection would amount to approximately 2/- per week at present rate of Production. HRO/J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Smedley. [Signature] [Handwritten] We had already cleared this up I have explained to BHS. We are having 'em modified & are checking 5% of bulk as an interim inspection on each delivery. Brg | ||
