x7968 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ra.13/KW. 5th December, 1934. E.R. Hall, Esq., 53, Berkeley Court, London, N.W.1. "Dear Hall, I was sorry to hear from Ratcliffe that your clutch was unsatisfactory. I am afraid this was an entirely experimental arrangement for the Shelsley Hill climb, the result being that it has not "stayed put". However, if it continues to make the car thoroughly unpleasant to drive, we will put it right for you. Now that we have got the standard exhaust system on the car we are also able to observe that the light flywheel has made the engine very rough from 3,000 r.p.m. upwards. Of course for a racing car this does not matter, but if you object to it we may have to replace the previous flywheel. In the meantime we are working to try and find out what is the cause of the trouble. I hope that you will manage to get that body on to your chassis without very much trouble. F.{Mr Friese} Dodd, one of our experimental testers, is at present at Park Wards and I have asked him to do what he can to assist you. We had to send the pictures by passenger train as we were afraid of them getting damaged in the car. I hope that you received them alright. I am very pleased that the Firm were so generous over the body. Yours sincerely, S | ||
