RE PRIMER ON PRESENT CHASSIS.

I have examined the arrangement for dashboard primer fitted to chassis 6.EX. You will remember some suggestions were brought to me of modifying the position of the primer cock, when I said I thought it was not worth while with the present chassis. The arrangement we have can only be considered awkward on cars with "D" steering, and a long scuttle. We ought to prohibit this long scuttle as it is impossible to reach other parts of the mechanism under the floorboards, and therefore there is no real urgent requirement for altering our present standard, as the ordinary scuttle permits of passably easy reach of the cock as at present arranged.

I have before pointed out that it is unwise for the experimental shop to be employed on work without drawings for many obvious reasons. I should, however, consider that this may be justified providing the Experimental production department were short of work, or the apparatus being made were an absolute necessity, in which case special permission should be obtained from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Bm'ro{C. C. Rose - Export Manager} R.{Sir Henry Royce}

If you find at any time it is necessary to alter the primer from the present standard arrangement temporarily, I should suggest that we do so by extending the mechanical operation, rather than by altering the system.

I do not recommend the use of a valve in the position fitted, because of the risk of failure, and the disastrous results
