X.8770 X.4663 X.7770 X.4554 The C.O. are pressing for the release of instructions for producing a further 100 Phantoms - series G-2-B. We are anxious to get the following improvements on that series :- (1) ENGINE AND PEDALS FURTHER FORWARD - CAST DASHBOARD. These have already run 10,000 miles on 129EX car last year. Sales have agreed that if this alteration is standardised it would not affect their stock of bodies. (2) SIDE BY SIDE REAR BRAKES. The present hand brake on the Phantom is poor. There is a saving in weight of 47 lbs., and probably there will also be a saving in cost in doing away with the expensive rear brake drums. Similar brakes will also be used on the 'SS{S. Smith}' Phantom. (3) SHORTER AND LIGHTER HUBS. These reduce the projection of the wheel and in our opinion improve the appearance of the car. These will also be used on the 'SS{S. Smith}' Phantom. (4) CENTRAL OILING SCHEME. We suggest that the new material which is being ordered for Phantom have the necessary bosses added so that the oiling scheme can be applied if it is approved.
