Thank you for your various memos and your telegram which have enabled us to find the trouble. The length of the levers on the foot brake equalizers are as follows ;- Front Equalizer. Outside Levers 1.800 (Ex.12676/7). Centre Plate Lever 1.750 Rear Foot-Brake Equalizer. Outside Levers 1.800 Direct Braking Lever 1.875 Servo Braking Lever 1.800 Feb. Referring to the Specification HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/CP.8/VS.{J. Vickers} 8.2.37, page 3, we read :- Brake Equalizing Mechanism. Equalizers brought up to Standard Specification. This was apparently not done and the omission not noticed by those who passed the car off test for sending to France. We note that the N.S. outside lever (next the equalizer) is interchangeable with the standard 1.350 lever, but that the O.S. levers are not interchangeable as the shaft is approximately 1/32" larger in diameter than standard. Will you please send the necessary parts and instructions so that the levers can be made correct when the brakes are re-lined. We have received your memo that the rear brakes are to be fitted with new shoes lined with B.Z. ---------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W.
