8775. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/MJ.5.12.32. Lovesey's Visit to America. We believe the "Bluebird" car will be shipped to America about January the 12th. We recommend that Mr. Lovesey leaves on about January the first and goes out there before the car. This will give him time to have a look around the New York Motor Show, which starts on January 7th. He should also be able to visit Curtiss, Pratt & Witney, and Langley Field. All of these plants are within easy access of New York. As soon as the car arrives he will go down to Daytona and give his whole time to that job until it is completed. Whilst Mr. Lovesey is at Daytona he will stay with the mechanics. We should like to get it settled as regards the general policy about expenses. We are sending a mechanic besides Lovesey, and we expect him to travel with Sir Malcolm Campbell's man. He will also be with them the whole time. Shall he pay his expenses separately? We think the best arrangements would be that they go as a team, work as a team, and live as a team. If there are separate accounts it may complicate matters. It would therefore appear that the best way would be for Malcolm Campbell to square the whole of the expenses and to make adjustments with R.R. later. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, | ||
