Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} by removal of the balance weights we can run .150 r.p.m. higher before reaching the same maximum vibration amplitude. This increase of the 6th. harmonic critical speed is so small that it is not worth while attempting to reduce the balance weights to raise the critical speed with the 2½ dia. journ 1. In conjunction with the proposed 2¾ dia. journals a reduction of the balance weights to raise the critical speed say 200 r.p.m. is worth considering as in this case an increased bearing load may be permitted.
