HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8774 To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from BJ. re. The Blue Sports Phantom. 10-EX. Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} My dear R.{Sir Henry Royce}, I shall be most interested to try the above car and am asking Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to let me have a list of all the items in which the chassis varies from our present standard. As to marketing such a model, so much depends on whether it will represent a true RR in regard to smoothness and silence and beautiful qualities which are expected of a RR car even if the sports body is removed at a later date and an ordinary standard type of body is fitted to the chassis. I am sorry I had already arranged to be in Derby on Thursday next to meet all the heads of departments at lunch to discuss matters of economy which are so urgent and important just now. Otherwise I should have very much liked to meet you, Nurse and Mr.Campbell. I am sorry to say that PN{Mr Northey} has caught a new chill during the last few days and has a slight attack of pleurisy. Perhaps we can arrange for you to see him a little later when he is in a better state of health. I am sure he would enjoy seeing you. He certainly has had very bad luck with his health just lately, but I am glad to say the Doctors seem to think his heart is improving and has stood the prolonged illness very well. We are all exceedingly glad to hear that the F.11 is shaping so well and I am sure that Mr.Fairey will be glad to receive it during the next few days and hope it will give excellent results in the air. So much depends on these first tests as to the impression which is given to the Air Ministry and the other nations, as any improvement in aeronautics spreads so very quickly. Yours ever, | ||
