X.677 S/W (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}). Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/MaclO/DON.30.1.25. Re International Driving Pass without triptyque or carnet. In reply to your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG of the 28th inst., there is no such thing as an International Driving Licence without triptyque. As a matter of fact, it is a popular fallacy that either the A.A. or R.A.C. issue a certificate of some kind on examination of a driver, entitling him to drive any car in any foreign country. This is not the case at all and the only form of certificate issued by either of these Clubs is the International Driving Pass which cannot be issued without its accompanying triptyque or carnet, and, anyway, this I.D.P. only entitles the driver or drivers whose photographs are on same, to drive that particular car and none other. I am, therefore, afraid there is no way of wangling a driving licence entitling you to drive cars in France without your going through the same procedure as the other Works drivers who have managed to obtain a French driving licence. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}/Mac.{Mr Macintosh} Try a little bribery to the right French official but be careful. | ||
