Attention: Chief Engineer.

Dear Sir:

We are bringing to your attention, the results of eight years of experimenting and perfecting by specialists in this particular line, which might possibly be of interest to you.

The original intention was to control oil in motors. This we mastered and in so doing we discovered we had also improved the compression, which gave more power, greater fuel economy and less wear to the motors.

Through this idea, we are retaining the oil ring as a compression ring. This ring with its narrow sealing surface is acting on the compression as well as on the oil and doing more valuable and delicate work than the regular compression rings. The oil ring is really the main ring and the vital point of oil and compression control, upon which so much depends for the success of the motor. The regular compression rings are essential and must be correct, as they must stand more wear and abuse than the lower ring. The oil or lower ring is protected by the upper rings and therefore can perform its delicate work on compression more efficiently than the regular compression rings. The oil ring, being properly fitted to the grooves and of the correct design and material, forms a perfect seal on all faces.

We have proved to the car owner that the Du Bois Oil ring has done more towards the developing and perfecting of the control of oil and compression than any other idea ever previously offered. All this is obtained through the patented peripheral bearing surface found only in the Du Bois rings. Other patents are pending.

The idea is simple, inexpensive, efficient and would provide a new sales factor, a distinguishing quality of superior and retaining performance. What we have to offer at the present time is the idea. If we can prove its value to your satisfaction, would you be interested in the use of the Du Bois Combination Oilproof Ring?
