F.O.Hickling Esq.,
Messrs. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co. Ltd.,
Newark-on-Trent.

Dear Mr. Hickling,

It has occurred to us that the elongation of holes in cages to prevent cage failures might be patentable and thenceforth a source of income.

As your Company would be in a much better position to make use of such a patent than ourselves we wondered whether you would like to take out the patent under our joint names and share any proceeds equally.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to do this, we will apply for the patent ourselves.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
