1021. 17th October, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.3/LT. C.W. WARD, Esq., Messrs. Park Ward Ltd., 473 High Road - Willesden, LONDON, N.W. 10. Dear Mr. Ward, As arranged during our visit to your Works yester-day, we shall be sending the sliding roof fittings for Myth when we collect the chassis frame. You will see that the fittings have been tempora-rily assembled into a wooden frame, so that the changes we have made from the standard Weathershields roof could be tried out. It will be necessary for you to make new parts in steel for the rear slide and also the catch which is attached to the polished fillets. Those fitted are now made in Dural. Also the slides are made in two pieces bolted together, which should be one pres-sing. The changes we have made from the Weathershields standard roof are:- channel runner at rear, roof rear slide made to suit, tapered sliding panel which will have a sealing strip screwed to the front and side flanges to act as a seal. The po-lished fillet inside the roof opening is hinged at the front and has brackets attached to the rear, which engage the rear slide bracket, so that it is held close to the underside of the roof trim pad when the roof is closed, forming an interior seal. These changes have been made in an endeavour to get a roof as near draught and noise proof as possible, at the same time being easy to manipulate. We have had a laminated bend made for the polished fillet with the idea of overcoming the necessity of making joints at the corners, which would be weak. Yours sincerely, P.S. Mr. Whyman hopes to have the timber permit for you some time next week. | ||
