Std. From Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1176 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/MJ.30.10.36. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is proposing to eliminate the side engine guards completely in order to help us with the cooling of the Phantom lll. The idea is to have some sort of shield to prevent mud from being flung on to the engine. We should like you to make some suggestions and talk the matter over with GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} arranging for some agreed scheme to be fitted to 35-EX. before it goes to France. Will you also arrange for a sheet steel bonnet to be fitted up for a Bentley. We leave it to you to decide the gauge and stiffness to be used, if any. We suggest you examine the American cars to get some indication of what is required. Before you actually instruct I should like to know what you estimate the weight increase will be, if any. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
