[Signatures:] F.J.H. kes Bentley Head Lamp Cross Member. We understand that it has been reported that certain cases have occurred where the forging at the end of the head lamp cross member on the Bentley has cracked, the crack occurring in the thin boss at the proximity of its junction with the I -shaped web. On N.Sch.4805 herewith we show a means of using existing forgings and at the same time strengthening the design. Instead of boring right through the forging to receive the tube end, a blind hole is used. The shape of the forging has been taken by measuring very largely from the existing piece, as the drawing FB.1844 does not show the correct draw in the side elevation. It is intended that this change should go on production immediately, and that no more forgings should be machined to FB.1844, or any machined parts used up.
