We realise that the servo gear rattle on 'India' is entirely different to that experienced on the EAC. In your report GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}1/Crn23. 8.25. you say - the slight rattle can be damped out easily by a light load on the drum. Was this test made on the road or was it made with the wheels jacked up? Will you tell us how much load is required on the servo drum to stop the rattle which is objectionable on the road? We should like definite replies to :- Is the rattle there only on the forward drive? Is the rattle worse when accelerating the full power compared with slowly accelerating with a light throttle? You mention that there is a slight noise on retard. Is there any noise at all if the gear lever is put into neutral? We should like you to try making a test with the front wheels definitely out-of-balance - try ½ lb. out of balance, then try 1 lb. out of balance and see whether high speed wobbles are experienced. contd :- | ||
