Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EH4/L26813. Mr Johnson. Mr Royce. August 26th. 1913. X709 EXPERIMENTAL DEPT. "A" Weekly Report. Reports have been sent in on :- X.683 - Lanchester Valve Mechanism. X.232 - Accident to Frame. X.13 - Front Springs heat treated at Derby. X.403 - Oil Pump with Slack Gears. X.404 - Oil Pump with 20° obliquity Gears. X.637 - Pratts No.2 Spirit. X.638 - Taxibus. X.675 - Shell No.2 Spirit. X.186 - Contacts for Distributor. Work in progress :- X.235 - Hydraulic Shock Absorbers. I have examined the shock absorbers on the new Daimler, they are the Triou and are used a lot on racing cars; the Sunbeam always use them. There are valves fitted to them so that one can adjust the pressure, they work freely when the springs are compressed. We are making tests with them and comparing them with our hydraulic shock absorbers. X.586 - Valve Springs. We are now testing on the rig/taper valve springs made at the works from Woodhead's steel.
