Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden Ltd.,
Eastern Works - Camden Street,
BIRMINGHAM.

Attention Mr. Spicer.

Dear Mr. Spicer,

Regarding the lock for the car we are designing we have decided to use a slam lock with spring loaded dovetail.

We would like to have your suggestions as to the best lock and spring loaded dovetail that you think will be most suitable for this particular job.

We have had the lock removed from the Buick car which you saw during your last visit here and we find that, while this lock is silent in operation, it has nothing in the way of sound deadening material in its construction. Unfortunately we cannot send the lock to you, as it would keep the car out of commission.

The striking plate of this car undoubtedly plays a big part in the silent operation of the lock. It is marked "Patent applied for", so that I imagine this refers to the spring loaded safety catch which is the main feature.

Possibly between us we may be able to produce something that would be as efficient as this catch without infringing the patent.

Thank you for the prints of scuttle ventilators received this morning.

I am also glad to see that you have something in the way of quick-lift regulators, which you think will be suitable for our purpose.

Kind regards,

Yours faithfully,
